I can not fathom how someone this disrespectful and condescending could even obtain a license to practice. As a student of psychology myself, I know that we are taught how to effectively communicate with all patients. After meetings with this doctor I have notice that for the rest of the day my friend would be completely shut down. This friend suffers from anxiety and depression so this immediately raised red flags in my mind. Upon further questioning my friend confided in me that this doctor was practically bullying them into feeling hopeless. I can say with certainty that after receiving medical treatment from Dr. Katz my friend has developed a fear of psychiatrists, a unwanted problem that has added tons of strain on their mental health. My friend was already hesitant to start treatment and now they will have to work even harder through the anxiety this doctor has caused. She has done way more harm than good. I would advise anyone who is considering this doctor to look elsewhere.

AVOID!!! This pseudo-psychiatrist was unapologetically late, rude, condescending, and informed my adolescent with severe anxiety that “no matter what medication is tried, symptoms will get worse before they get better.” I’ll spare those seeking a doctor a lengthy and detailed review and simply say I know it’s difficult to find a good child psychiatrist and even when you do getting an appointment takes time. Don’t waste your valuable time with this woman. I suggest Edwin, a nurse practitioner at Child and Family Focus on Byberry Road.
She treated myself, plus my 3 sons when they were in grade school. We would make back to back appointments. She never runs on schedule, her office staff are and she rushed through the appointment to the extent each one of us was given 5 minutes individually. When the medication suppressed the children’s appetite to the point they stopped growing, we decided to try going without medication. 10 years later my son needed an appointment...Trying to make the appointment, they asked if he was suicidal, and when I said I was unsure, they refused to see him, saying they don’t deal with suicidal patients. I never said he was suicidal, and he had been her patient for years, yet they denied him an appointment. I would give 0 stars, why isn’t that an option??!!!!
This doctor was awful. I visited her office for the first time and she came to get me 15 minutes after my appointment time. I gave her a brief history of my past struggles and she wanted to weigh me. I specifically told her that I did not want to know my weight, and she agreed to not disclose this information to me. She requested that I get a blood test and then come back in a few weeks to see her again. I did just that and she not only told me my weight, but said my vitamin D levels were too low to be on medication. I have never heard such a lame excuse from a psychiatrist before, but this news infuriated me because I had to pay for 2 appointments with her and the blood test, only for her to turn me away and refuse to prescribe me any medications. She also said something along the lines of \you don't need to come back to see me.\ I was shocked and upset, and I do not recommend her to anyone.
I have been with dr katz for a little over a year now, she has done nothing for me except prescribe me medications for anxiety that have made me suicidal and despite my history of suicide attempts she kept me on the medication and I had tried again which led me to being institutionalized. When you tell her you don’t want to be on a medication she is reluctant to try anything else and thinks that you’re the problem and not the medication. She only gives you 15 minutes in a month or 2 time span to get out all your symptoms. She also never recalls any situations you’re in. I had completely taken myself off all my medication the month after I had last seen her. Which is highly unsafe. She didn’t even realize that she had not told me to go off all my medication and had told me now due to my sleeping issues to try Benadryl when my sleeping habits had been an issue from the start of seeing her. She is incompetent and the GOC she works at is a scam. They charge you 75 when you miss an appt but when Lucia is late to 95% of the appt she has with you it’s not their issue. That’s how their psychiatrists work. She takes on too many patients, gives little time to her patients, and knows nothing about them.
