Their restaurant has great food and their gift shop is always fully stocked. They also have a mini bar. In summer hundreds of hummingbirds can be seen feeding from their hanging feeders and around the surrounding bushes. Unfortunately Mt. Evans was closed this year. While every other mountain pass and road stayed open this summer they stupidly closed access to this mountain.

I had the pleasure of eating at the restaurant on a recent bike ride. This stop was at about the halfway point from Idaho Springs to the summit of Mt. Evan's. It was nice to be able to eat and relax in comfort before the serious climbing on Mt. Evan's Road. The staff was more than hospitable and offered helpful advice about the bad road conditions ahead. They also had sunscreen which I had forgotten to bring with me.

This is an old historic place and I love it. Huge log cabin style restaurant and gift shop. Food is very good....a little pricey but worth it. All the pies are homemade there, so make sure to get a slice..... it is so worth it.

They have nice pastry treats! I stopped by after biking mnt Evans on a cold day, it was freezing cold going down. Got hot coffee and a snack at the lodge. They sat my next to a fireplace to let me warm up.

Nice little gift shop/restaurant combo to stop in on your way up or back from going up Mt. Evans. Lots of souvenir merchandise in the gift shop. My girlfriend and I even had lunch at the lodge after going up to the summit. The food here was pretty good. We got the Buffalo Chili Cheese Fries for an appetizer, she got the Buffalo Chili, and I got the Buffalo Bratwurst. Everything was good and our server was friendly.
