Had the obligatory Fish and chip meal on our recent visit to Ilfracombe and fortunately chose Maddy’s. The fish was not only large but perfectly cooked and probably the best fish and chips my wife and I have ever had. On top of that because we wanted to eat in we did have concerns about the Covid procedures in place but we didn’t need to worry. The young waitress wearing a mask asked us to wait whilst she sanitised the table for us which she did thoroughly including the chairs & table mats. Once seated she got our drinks, served our meal, handled new arrivals & collected payments all with the minimum fuss and always most polite. If every establishment had a waitress as good as this one the world would be a better place.

Nice, typical seaside fish and chips plaice, haha. Service was quick, social distancing measures in effect. Good menu and generous portions, though plaice was undercooked and oily. Overall good experience nonetheless. High chair also provided, sanitised
Visited here yesterday and what a surprise find! A cafe that was dog friendly and the food was spot on really nice and hot with huge portions I had 2 fish Cakes with chips but I thought an extra 1.70 was a bit steep for peas.the prices were reasonable with enough choice. Staff really friendly made us feel welcome including the dogs. Really good COVID measures in place . Keep up the good work !!
I’ve just had fish and chips from Maddys and it’s the best takeaway fish and chips I’ve ever had batter was really crispy and fish was flakey and very tasty and the chips were spot on to.
YES I am back again Too long time. Having Classic Fish and Chips with Bake Beans and a little salad. Eat the salad first then put Beans on my Chips. It's the way I like them. The service was friendly and quick and later asked if everything was OK. Yes there's gossip but it is one of your Local Best Fish and Chip Restaurant.
