I'm very grateful this town has a library that has been in operation for more than 100 years. It is wonderful that it has such a historic building. Like all modern libraries, it does offer free Wi-Fi service and air conditioning. However, there are a few negatives. Due to the volunteer nature of the staffing, it is very difficult for them to have summer and weekend hours. In fact, they're quite a few Saturdays the doors are locked the General Public. Also, there is the negative of the \kansas room\, being closed, except by appointment only. This room contains specifics about the town of Independence and Montgomery County. Including the \settlers journals\, a set of documents referring to the seven family wagon train from hence, the majority of the more established families in the town draw their Heritage from. I find it odd and slightly mysterious, even the point where, it seems they're trying to delete this town farming and oil field history.
