We used Insight to do our first year business taxes. We were very transparent with them from the beginning with everything and they estimated it would run about 500. We were informed the least amount of times we need to come in the less the invoice would be. We came in once to drop our info off and once to pick them up once they were complete. It took them several months to complete the returns because the original CPA we were assigned went on maternity leave and we were then handed to their rookie that hasn’t even passed their CPA exam yet. Every time we had a question or concern we were told they would have to get back with us. Upon picking up the completed returns, nothing was ever said about the balance as we assumed we would pay then. Yet we were informed the balance due would still be around 500 and sent on our way. We received a bill for more than triple that amount a week later. We never were informed any additional services were needed nor did we approve any. I contacted Insight and owner several times and given the run around, until finally I received a response from the owner stating if we didn’t like their fees, we shouldn’t do the accounting ourselves, and still stated we would still owe more than double their original quote but only if paid within x amount of days. We used Rexroad & Associates for our 2018 returns whom only charged 250, completed our returns in one week with the same information we provided to Insight. Horrible horrible integrity with this company! I am in shock they are still in business with these deceptive practices!! Preying on new businesses performing at a loss. I will be escalating this issue to the BBB and Attorney General.

Insight used to do our business payroll and taxes. They were fine for a while, but got sloppy toward the end. They made assumptions about our returns without asking. They did not bother to tell us when we needed to pay quarterly estimates, and that cost us. The State of Illinois actually sent us a refund check after THEY discovered that Insight filed our taxes incorrectly. Because they filed our last federal return before talking to me, they had to file a correction, and then doubled their fee. When confronted about this, the owner condescendingly suggested if I didn't like their fees, I should go to H&R Block. It wasn't so much the fees (which were high), but the sloppy mistakes, lack of communication, and unprofessional handling of these mistakes. In my experience, they fell far short of their lofty published mission statement.
