We attended a reception at Institute for Cuban and Cuban American Studies in Coral Gables. They were introducing a book written about the province we come from, Pinar del Rio, Cuba. The University of Miami has this 'Casa Bacardi' dedicated as the official 'conference' house to conduct studies, book reviews and to encourage and foster a highly educational environment where to debate issues and ideas. 'Apuntes para una Historia de Pinar del Rio' drew quite the crowd, with the Author present Wilfredo Denie Valdes. The book was presented by Dr. Marcos Antonio Ramos, Wilfredo Cancio Isla and Belisario Pi Lago, the moderator was Dr. Omar Vento. We were invited by Dr. Nilda Diaz, who promotes Cuban American cultural events. The location is ideal for this type endeavor! Highly recommend attending if possible.
