Arrived and met nice guy at the counter. Served quickly and given car I requested. Staff advised to take photo of any damage on the car as this will be time/date stamped. There was damage and photos taken as advised. Had car for 1 day. Parked in friends large car park at his house. Taken back to out of hours drop off and all forgotten about. Until. Letter arrived 3 weeks later with a bill of 400 pounds for the damage I'd photographed. (As a side note 400 for this damage even though it's not mine is an utter disgrace) Immediately contacted them by email with the photographs I had taken of the damage. 2 weeks later no response and meanwhile they have taken the money from my account. Am now in dscussiom with my credit card to get the money back. I can only believe they take advantage of people who have not taken out the extra cover (I didn't take it out as was driving from the airport to a friend's house and back again) and try to offload the damage already on the car to them. If the local staff are implicit in this then it's shocking. Services like this should not be giving a bad reputation to the Highlands. If you're thinking of renting with Avis I'd look elsewhere as they are being highly unprofessional. And don't bother telling me to DM you as not everyone is on social media. Just at try getting back to me via the medium you asked me to contact you on!!

After departing my plane and waiting an extended 40mins (due to a customer complaint ahead of me & a backup of waiting customers) I was informed due to a lack of cars I was getting a free upgrade to an amazing and brand new Mercedes-Benz C200 Sedan at the same rate as my booked VW. Their process of letting me know of savings that could be made, and exchanges of insurance that would put me at benefit by the guy behind the counter (wasn't able to get his name) was nothing short of excellent. Would highly recommend Avis at Inverness
Strongly advise avoiding this place! We had our worst ever rental experience here. We booked, had our pickup time confirmed (twice) by Avis and then turned up at the agreed time and found they had gone home early for the night. Left stranded and had to get a v expensive taxi to find a hotel. Despite apologising the next day (when we finally got hold of someone) and saying we would get a refund for the missed day and taxi, months later customer service are still refusing to refund us. Use a local independent company and avoid Avis at all costs!!
Terrible customer service and quality of rental. They were dishonest, kept us waiting for hours and ripped us off price wise. I would steer well clear of these guys if at all possible!
