Salt Kitchen and Rum Bar is located in Ipswich, United States on 1 Market St. Salt Kitchen and Rum Bar is rated 4.2 out of 5 in the category gastropub in United States.

With a name like Salt Kitchen and Rum Bar, you can expect some pretty crazy things from this restaurant. Though it’s only been open since 2013, Salt Kitchen and Rum Bar already has a loyal following because of its creative approach to comfort food. As a “Gástrō Pùb”, it promotes amazing food in a comfortable setting.

As the name suggests, it also places a big emphasis on rum. To that end, the drinks at Salt Kitchen and Rum Bar carry names like Holiday in Cambodia, Unbearable Why and Cold and Vertical. Use these to wash down the lobster poutine, salt block scallops or fish tacos.

The food and service here are both exceptional. Our waitress was attentive and very knowledgeable, this is especially nice at a restaurant that has menu items that are unique. We tried the tempura lobster -- it was fantastic! Their drinks are all made fresh, our waitress recommended a drink that was off the menu and it was to die for! I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant if you are in town. Make sure to make reservations as it is small and spaces are limited.

Salt used to be very good, about the best in town. But it's gone through many chef changes in the last few years and has been bought and sold a few times. Recently, nearly all the long time staff quit. Word is that the current owner wants to sell but the place has so much debt that no one will buy it. It's just being treated as a profit center these days, and prices keep rising while portions get smaller. If the Phantom Gourmet reviewed it today, Salt would rate as one of the Great Zeros.

Good drinks and apps. Could use a better entree selection. Also sad to see such a hip restaurant with no marketed gluten free options.

Funky and fun. Modern takes on many interesting dishes. Something for every taste. Recently had the cod special and it was fabulous. Full bar with an emphasis on run drinks. Not inexpensive, but we'll worth it!

Congratulations your food is great!! Unless u are a local your service will suck. I could not get a refill sitting at the bar eating dinner. Other patrons were being served over me. Will never eat here again!!

Delicious food, friendly staff. You definitely want a reservation if you are going for dinner. We had a reservation and it still took 20 minutes to actually sit. The food is worth the wait though.
