I purchased a 1ct solitaire diamond from IRC diamonds in Antwerp 2017. To date IRC has not attempted to rectify the situation. The diamond, although looking beautiful, was since looked at a jeweller in my home country Canada. The diamond I purchased went through a process called laser drilling, invented in Israel around 2000. Basically, a laser hole is drilled and the inclusion is removed and filled with a type of Glass. The result is the diamond gains a clarity of about 2 levels. The diamond after this process is called Clarity Enhanced. By law, in most countries of the world, including I believe Belgium, this must be declared on the certificate. If for example you purchased a vs1 diamond after laser drilling. Its value is really that of a Si2 diamond which is considerably less. I paid for a VS1 diamond when I really should have paid for a SI2 diamond clarity enhanced, which is about 40% less to what I have paid. One other issue with a laser glass filled diamond. I asked my jeweller at home to clean it and redo the rhodium finish on the white gold ring. The jeweller refused to do it as a glass filled diamond has a chance of cracking under heat when cleaned. I must give IRC a rating of 0 out of 5. What happened to me does not seem to be a place where you would want to buy a diamond expecting to deal with what appears to be a reputable dealer. This review will remain as long as IRC refuses to respond to my request to make this right.
