Busy port, with 1 gift shop and no nice cafe around. It should have a cafe with seats so people could spend more time and money while waiting. Nice and friendly staff.

From the port area just a few blocks there's some rental car spots and also for scooters. One drag is that in Japan you will need an international drivers license along with your regular one for both car, scooter or motorcycle. You can loop the island in one day! Take your time and enjoy it to the MAX!

Big terminal with 1 snack shop. There’s basically 2 boat companies you can buy your tickets from and they are about the same price, same schedule.

Be careful this is not the ferry terminal to get to other island (Taketomi etc.)!!! We followed Google maps to this location (3-chōme-4 Hamasakichō) and found an abandoned terminal with just an old shop/restaurant inside. No counter or ferry nor staff to ask questions to. Had to ask the hotel on the other side of the road about the "real" ferry terminal, which is actually at the same location as the bus terminal. All the photos are of the ferry/bus terminal and not this location.
