We showed up at the stall to book a snorkel tour and felt mislead. We looked them up online and were interested in the two hour tour for 25 a person. He told us that because of the boat, it was 40 a person, but he'd give us a discount of 35 after I showed him the prices online which he confirmed was their website. Red flag #1. Our group eventually decided to book. He said that the guy for credit cards wasn't there and he wanted a cash deposit. Red flag #2. We told him we had no cash only card. So he wanted us to leave our card with him and come back in an hour to which we refused. Red flag #3. In the end, due to the mixed reviews of the tour quality and the red flags of a possible scam, we opted against booking a tour with them.

Cooperativa Isla Mujeres is excellent! We booked a whale shark tour for seven for our recent trip to the island. Booking was easy, payment was easy, the price was reasonable, and the experience was wonderful. Our guides were very professional but we felt like they were also having fun, which made the experience that much better. They clearly know what they are doing - they set and managed our expectations, they have safety rules and followed the law to ensure our safety as well as that of the wildlife, and they did a lot to make sure that we were comfortable and had fun. Our guides were so personable and we spoke easily with them about the animals, their experience, and Mexico in general. I definitely recommend Cooperative Isla Mujeres for this tour and I assume all their other tours are just as good. My entire party agreed that we would book with them next time around. For those who are interested in the details: the guides picked us up at our hotel pier and took us to the whale shark location, which was about 20 miles away. We swam in pairs with a guide who made sure to point us in the right direction so that we would have the best interaction with the animals. We had a waterproof camera and our guide took pictures of us and the animals, which allowed us to enjoy the moment and not worry about taking pictures. While on the boat waiting our turn to swim, there was plenty to see and the other guides pointed out animals and answered our questions. Sandwiches and soft drinks were available to us at all times. After several turns swimming with the whale sharks, the guides took us to another location to swim and snorkel while they prepared a light lunch of delicious, delicious ceviche and guacamole, then served it to us while we were in the water. After that, they dropped us back at the hotel pier.

We found these guys on the beach next to the ferry opposite Oxxo wearing white shirts. We wanted to see sailfish and snorkel with them. They offer trips for very reasonable prices, and they just don't stop searching until they made this happen. Was absolutely spectacular! After we saw what we were looking for we returned, spent an hour at playa norte eating freshly made ceviche before heading back to the harbour. Awesome day, highly recommended!

No show/no call! Offered to pick us up at our hotel, which in our case was a rented condo. Gave them the AirBnB listing and tourist destination across the street as reference points but no one ever showed. Called, texted, and emailed with no answer until an hour after the pickup time at which point they offered to pick us up then, by this point we had already altered out plans. Offered to give us free tour at 10:40, but again... we moved on. Asked for full refund and was assured it would be credited in 24 hours... 5 days later nothing, filed dispute. Would not have written a bad review if it was a simple mistake but their actions in follow up were all pretty questionable (They never mentioned a 10:40 tour, but suddenly had one? Offered to turn boat around to get us, what about the other people, they lose an hour too? Where is my refund? If your driver got lost why not call? etc.). I am sure when they get it right the tour is lovely, but they handled things badly all around.

Great day accommodating guides. We had 5 kids age 11-5 & they had so much fun as did the adults.
