The IOW Steam Railway is where the old becomes new again, and the obsolete becomes cool to behold. This place is a flashback to an age far gone, but will reintroduce the new generation to the heritage and history of how far our trains have come, which we often take for granted. We were fortunate that our third class tickets landed us in a first class carriage with comfortable, garrish looking seats complimented by interesting olden day decor. The train ride itself traverses a rather typical but scenic Isle of Wight farming landscape with short stops at two stations for changeovers and pictures. Children and adults will be fascinated with this journey into the past. The staff are polite, warm and jovial, which add to the charm of this place. Highly recommended.

A very good preserved railway. The station area is layed out extremely well and all the buildings fit in perfectly. The newer structures do not look out of place at all. The locos and stock are meticulously presented and be sure to visit the museum. The line is unusual as you start in the middle and the train runs to one end, runs round and the goes to the other end & finally finished back in the middle. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful.

Great place for a day out we caught the train from smallbrook Station the only way to get there is by train. Nice ride along the track in your own private compartment passing through stations until you reach Haven Street where you alight to look at the history and attractions. Helpful friendly staff.

Great railway with regular every day services. Decent length of track so you get a proper journey. Nice little museum of rolling stock and well preserved stations. Under covid rules it is a straight round trip, I'd guess the normal jump on off would be more be more fun. Their cleaning and booking to cope with covid is excellent.
