This used to be my go to fresh fish provider other than Queen Victoria Market (QVM) for nearly 3 years. It seems to have changed hands and prices have sky rocketed. Recent purchases have been flathead tails at nearly twice QVM prices, with scales on the flesh; marinara mix with mega-lumps of salmon and sword fish, and with many bones in the salmon; and smelly oysters with shell pieces. It appears they may also be opening in Station Fairfield. Back to QVM for me - 40 years of great fish, great options and great QVM service.

Whoever shucked the oysters this weekend did not have an understanding. Every shell was broken at the edge and the shell grit left for us to eat. Not good, I'd prefer shuck my own.

Bought a dozen Coffin Bay oysters, a whole snapper and some salmon fillets. The oysters were not fresh, smelled bad and were sittin in a brown juice. The salmon was slimy and the snapper was not cleaned properly and had scales still attached. This shop has definitely changed owners and is being run like a cheap fish and chip shop. I will never go back there which is a real shame as I was a regular customer.

Best fish, chips, and calamari in the Ivanhoe/Heidelberg area. Only local place I know of that uses actual calamari rings in batter (the same fantastic batter they use on the fish) rather than the flavorless frozen moulded seafood paste in crumbs that everywhere else serves.

Recently purchased tuna steaks for dinner . Unfortunately the fish was smelly and had to be disposed to avoid illness, after spending over 30 for 3 fillets Contacted the store and explained the circumstances only to be told ,that I should have returned the fish straight away- abit difficult to do so at 8pm in the evening . It’s a shame as the quality of the fish has in the past been fresh and of excellent quality . I asked if ownership had changed to be told “ no”. I suspect it had . Never going back !!
