IZMIR FOUNDATION FOR CULTURE ARTS AND EDUCATION The Izmir Foundation for Culture Arts and Education (IKSEV) was founded in 1985 under the leadership of Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı. Non-profit, non-governmental and non-political, The Foundation has aimed to research and study, to support, create, protect and preserve culture and arts. IKSEV organizes the International Izmir Festival for 29 years and Izmir European Jazz Festival for 22 years; runs the Academy İKSEV which has been giving education and hosting numerous master classes in music and dance; also organizes Dr. Nejat Eczacıbaşı National Composition Contest which has added more than 150 new symphonic works to our polyphonic music and encouraged the contemporary Turkish composers. The MUZIKSEV, the first traditional instrument museum of Turkey was opened under IKSEV's umbrella while continuing to serve to carry Izmir to the future as a city befitting its past.
