Wow, such a great experience! We ended up here by accident, but it was a happy accident. They have designed the park really well, you walk along a wooden path through the animals natural habitat. All Nordic, local animals combining both their beauty and preserving an understanding of animals from and living in the region. They have small cottages along the way where you can start a fire (they leave wood for you) and you can bring food and / or grill hot dogs. Such a nice add! Loved it and would highly recommend it to couple and / or families visiting the area.

Visiting Järvzoo is a must when going up North, for any time of the year! It is all nordic animals in a natural habitat, so its more untraditional than a regular zoo. The walk around the zoo alone is very nice. Great views and such a serene environment. Fantastic for families, and just a good for couples or a self trip. Not over priced at all, as the staff keeps the park and animals in great shape.
Not satisfied! Visited Järvsö zoo during summer and spent like 3hrs. Animal exhibits are scarcely located and you just keep walking as walking looking at pine trees. Only deer, moose, bear and owls can be seen easily. We couldn’t see the Arctic fox. I’ll suggest other zoos like Nordic Ark near Smögen are much better as they have more animals to see.
Calm and beautiful scenery. Good for families. Strongly recommend to bring binoculars and your own picnic.
My family and I really likes this place. The setting is so much more natural than a standard zoo.
Great outdoor zoo, it gives off a feeling of hiking while you get the experience of the Swedish wild life. There are cozy resting points where people grill hotdogs over an open fire with much joy. One thing I personally find very interesting and fun about this zoo is that since the animals have such big enclosures it's not a 100% sure you will see all animals which in my opinion gives the visit a more humbe and real feeling. SUre you pay to see animals but the animals is also living there and if they decide to not show themselves then that is okey, like it is in the wild. The muskoxes are by far the most special thing here and they sort of gives of this magical suspense when seeing them
Brilliant zoo showcasing nordic animals- completely different to your usual zoo animals. The enclosures are large and of great quality so you might not see all the animals but to me that's much better than the animals being cramped and on show constantly. We managed to catch feeding time so managed to see Wolverine, Lynx and Arctic Fox being fed which was amazing.
Before I am not a big fan of zoo because it destrly the natural way of living of those animals then when I visit this zoo I saw animals living free on their natural habitat.
