Steve is an excellent tour guide with numerous true stories to share. You will tour two prisons (the first 2 large complexes built after the original wood bldg in the early 1800s) & must drive to the 2nd one so plan on half a day - am or pm. 40 pp with no discounts. You can only take photos at the first prison. Both prisons are worth seeing. Much history. There is time to shop at their small gift store & use restroom between tours. If you buy postcards like me (who collects & mails many) look at them on the back before purchase. I bought 10 and half had numbers written all over the back so I couldn't write on them & mail. They're 2 each, which is pricey for a postcard too.

I loved it! Our tour guide was super informative, knowledgeable & friendly. The tour was quite insightful and very interesting. It's unfortunate that they're closing the museum soon. I highly recommend checking in out before it closes!

Used a Groupon to get a great price. 22 for 4 of us. The 8 and 9 year old were spooked on entry because you can see actual prisoners walking the yard across the street and I myself was unsure if the other connected cell blocks had prisoners. The kids fearfully entered. All 3 kids enjoyed it , the other kid is 12, as did I. It is self guided with scavenger hunts for different age groups including adults. You can make it a 30 minute tour or a 1.5 hr tour depending on how much you want to read. The cells and prison hall appear to be as they were 10 yrs ago when this block closed. We spent 1.5 hrs and then enjoyed Culvers

Closing toward the end of Dec 2019. Went for the tour. The staff person was very good, very informative. The exhibits were well done. They were just a little olde. Like the museum and prison itself. We found the visit to be very worthwhile.

Very interesting tour, I have toured a couple other prisons both in the US and abroad. Each was a unique experience. Very interesting to see the intake process, then the cell block itself. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, parking was easy to find and ample. One note. No cameras or phones on the tour.
