Mark Tomory

I like coach Daniels. He is rigorous yet accommodating. He trained at a the Shaolin monastery in northern China, so the link to that tradition is as direct as it can be. Many of the students are young and in great shape, but I am middle-aged and in poor physical condition. However, the classes are small and the instructor customizes the drills to the level and condition of each student, so the more fit students get challenged yet I am able to keep up too.

This is my 3rd year with as a student at the Jade Fortress and I recommend to anyone who asks in a heartbeat. The teacher has studied and practiced Shaolin for most of his life and is very patient when teaching something new to a student.

I've been taking lessons at this school for about 8 months, and can't recommend it enough. I primarily joined to do something meditative as well as active and have been satisfied in both areas. If you are interested in sparring, the school participates in competitions too! The teacher Demitri is professional and friendly along with the community surrounding the school. Nobody will push you past the limit which you are comfortable with, but you still end up getting a good workout at the end of each class.

I have known Demitri since I was very young, trained with him and my father. He is VERY professional, family oriented and fun! If I had to recommend any place to go to have your child learn discipline and self control and self defense, I would very much so say go to Jade Fortress!
