Very clean and well looked after. Only took about 5mins might have been less

Have you ever looked at a river and thought to yourself, no way am I going to get across that without my clothes getting wet. Nearest bridge and ferry are miles away. Well look no further than the tyne tunnel. Like it's much larger counterpart this tunnel goes under the tyne, but instead of cars it's got people and bikes with dedicated tunnels for each. There's a vertical lift which works! Escalators that don't work and a brand new incline lift; that also doesn't work. The tunnel itself is very good at not letting you drown or get wet during your crossing of the tyne. I would rate it very highly indeed.

Spend breathtaking amounts of money and end up with next to nothing.

Very atmospheric, well worth a visit, you can be mid river under the Tyne.

Walked through and back again, popular for bikes, interesting

Nice little piece of history connecting South and North Tyneside.

Eventually open again. But still not completely operational.

This is a historic place, really convenient for crossing the river and free. Very well lit and kept clean; and I love the wooden escalators (not working), the longest in the world apparently. Shame about the ongoing delays to the inclined lifts, I'd be more understanding but they were already delayed for a long time when Covid-19 came along. I'll be glad when the refurb is completed.
