All I can say is outstanding! I have been to many different Chinese cuisines in my life, but none can compare to the Red Chamber. The staff are very friendly and always at hand to assist. The food is literally something out of this world. I would personally recommend this restaurant to anyone living or traveling through joburg. Do yourself a favor and make sure you try the peking duck, it will definitely be your worth while.
Red Chamber is simply a must for authentic Mandarin cuisine. Slightly pricey, but worth every penny, every dish is delicious especially the peking duck, however it is recommended that you do phone and order peking duck ahead of time as it does take some time to prepare. Other than that all dishes are prepared promptly. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable.
24.05.2018 After test tasting some good wines at the Kaya FM wine festival that was happening in the mall we needed something to eat. We did a quick stop here, but definitely want to go back again as we only ordered starters which filled us up. We ordered the Sesame toast and the Thin Spring Onion Pastry. Both were absolutely delicious and full of flavour. The staff were all pleasant and helpful with recommendations and a trip down memory lane when we got the bill and received a " White Rabbit" sweet.

Was recommended the Peking Duck - was a bit of a let down. was expecting a hot steaming aromatic dish instead received a very dull looking cold sliced duck on a plate....very meh. Other dishes ok - the prawns in tangerine sauce were very good but the rest such as cashew nut chicken or sizzling plates - just ok - neither here nor there. Fried rice is very expensive for the measly portion, but none of the mains come served with rice, so it adds a good few hundred to the bill. Service is good and friendly but not really worth a visit for the quality of the food.
