I have been seeing a Dr. John Wolfe at Orthopedic One for over 18 years, off and on, and I cannot recommend a more professional and thorough orthopedic surgeon. His demeanor is soft and caring and his touch with that needle going into my knee is very skilled and the pain relief is instant. When I see my family physician I sometimes wait an hour and a half, even though I might have the first appointment. I was in and out of Orthopedic One, which included filling out some paperwork, and that took more time than it did to be treated. If you have pain and you are searching for what I consider to be the best treatment around, you will be lucky if you can see Dr. John Wolfe at Orthopedic One. And I am sure the other doctors who are displayed on the wall are also extremely professional, but I am happy to sing the Praises of Dr. John Wolfe

I went to Dr. Wolfe back in June for some severe rib pain. I explained to him that if it were an intercostal muscle tear I think I would know because I have know what it feels like to one strain a muscle, I had a second degree strain in my quadriceps and ran on it during track season, and two have soreness in my intercostals (most people don’t usually know what it feels like or have felt it). I explained that when it started I was coughing severely and had been having fits for awhile and suddenly one morning I heard a pop during a coughing fit and felt severe pain and it sent me to the ground. I could then barely breath or move. He listened and then basically told me I was wrong and there was no point for an X-ray. He only felt at the back of my ribs for a second and not the side where I said it was painful and then said it’s a strain come back in a few weeks. I then scheduled an appointment with Dr. Van Styne and he scheduled an X-Ray which showed nothing and then an MRI which showed a non-displaced fracture through a rib. Dr. Wolfe seems to brush off the explanation of the pain from a “child”, I’m 18 and have taken many anatomy classes along with sports medicine for 2 year and I’ve had many injuries throughout my many years of sports. He spoke to me as if I knew nothing of my own body after I told him I’ve experienced intercostal soreness, muscular strains, and other injuries before so I think I knew my own body. Thank god for orthopedic one and understanding that I did not trust or get along with him and refunded that appointment and rescheduled me with Dr. Van Styne ASAP.

I would highly recommend Dr John Wolfe to anyone who needs an orthopedic surgeon. He treats his patients with care, knowledge and wit. Has great insight and humor to ease anyone’s anxiety at the visit. Over the past 15 years, I have had one knee surgery and 3 other procedures for knees and an elbow. All have been taken care of by Dr Wolfe.

Ortho One and John are great. My wife and I both use the practice and have worked with 5 of the doctors over 10 years. It is an outstanding practice and bunch of people..

Dr. Wolfe needs to retire. I went to him a year ago complaining about lower back pain. He had me walk on my heels and toes and asked a few questions and then told me that it was nothing to be concerned about. Recently I went to Dr. Wolfe again with even more severe and persistent back pain. This time he ordered an MRI. When he looked at the MRI he said, "That's really dramatic, my back hurts looking at that," and diagnosed me with severe spinal stenosis. He said that surgery was the only viable way to alleviate my pain, and said that, "physical therapy would be useless." I went to a spinal specialist at the Cleveland Clinic to get a second opinion. The specialist told me that my stenosis was not as severe as Dr. Wolfe had stated. In addition he prescribed physical therapy. After about a month of PT my pain is now gone. I do have stenosis, but Dr. Wolfe first misdiagnosed me and then directed me toward surgery, which I fortunately did not pursue. Maybe I'll need it down the road, maybe not, but in any case, I have found Dr. Wolfe to be quick to diagnose and flippant in his attitude.
