This trip was for a one day in law fathers day visit, Arrived at Atlantic FBO @ KJZI around 7PM in a heavy rain event and wasn't greeted or assisted with as much as an umbrella to unload and secure my TBM, we parked and went inside soaked and proceeded to the reception desk where i was asked if i wanted fuel, I asked about pricing and fees ect, i was told JetA was 6.24 a gallon plus tax and I needed to buy 63 Gallons to waive fees, I exclaimed 6.24 ? and said why so high?, fuel is at an all time low in years, the young lady proudly responded its that price because we have no competition on the field, but if you pay for that you will avoid the 230.00 facility fee and the 100.00 overnight fee, there will still be a 15.00 security fee. I was surprised and appalled at her response even though she managed to say all of these things with a pleasant smile. I do understand that my aircraft usually prompts more expensive ramp fees, however the combination of these costs at Atlantic is over the top and defies in my opinion good business practices in the aviation world, additionally they do not accept any fuel program discounts such as CAA. I feel taken advantage of, I have read stories in the magazine about such experiences but have never encountered it to this degree in my 4300 hours of flying in the last 24 years all over the USA and Canada. Because \ we have no competition\ is not a reasonable argument to justify this. when I am in remote Alaska I expect to pay much more for fuel because of the effort to get the fuel to the airport, this I understand and accept, but a airport in the lower 48 easily accessible by fuel trucks, not so much.
