If I could give one star. I would! Here is the situation. My husband did COVID test OVER a week ago, we’ve been calling to get results. They left notes for us 5 times, but no response. Nobody getting back us. I want to know are you guys even reading the notes? How hard is to get a COVID test result nowadays? At most TWO DAYS. Once time, we got the test result in an hour. I think the problem here is the nurses and the receptionists are not doing their job. They don’t return phone calls, they lost test results which happened to us already! VA are supposed to help veterans, I don’t think you are doing a good job. Maybe the system should fire people that don’t want this job. We are waiting results at home. Can’t even go get groceries. Can’t go back to work obviously! DO YOUR JOB!!! OTHERWISE GO HOME!

American Lake veteran Medical Hospital Tacoma Wa. Was a great place for my father to have the best care for him all the nurses staff was just wonderful and great even the grounds of the hospital was beautiful with all the trees and even the deer on the property and overlooking the lake to me it was a peaceful place I visited the VA at Christmas time for five years up until my father's death on March 23rd 1993.... even one of the nurses thought my dad was handsome from the pictures back from the Korean War.... now my dad lays to rest in the new Tacoma Cemetery military US Army section. If you have a soldier this is the VA Hospital you want them to be in.... thank you very much American Lake veteran Medical Center....

Mixed feelings about this VA clinic because I mainly wanted to be seen for my ptsd and several mental issues. The womens department is semi okay but the front receptionist can get snappy over the phone, possibly due to Covid and busy services to other vets. Anyway, I've asked numerous times that the PAC clinic has one particular Dr whom I did not liked and didn't want to get therapy from her and I still have not gotten any answers as to be seen with a different Dr. Honestly, even though I reside in WA, I wish I could get care through the Portland VA system since they've been quite superb and kind to me!

DO NOT TRY AND GET MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES HERE, it's a COMPLETE waste of your time, they might as well not be offered. I called early November to make an appointment and was told the soonest available was for the middle of February. I completely understand having a waiting period, but three months seemed a little excessive. It's tough times now though for everyone, so I took the appointment and did the best I could to manage until then. Except today, I got a call saying that my appointment was canceled, and when I called to reschedule the next appointment was April 23rd. ALMOST SEVEN MONTHS after I tried to receive services. And no guarantee that appointment wouldn't just be canceled with no effort to make things right too. I tried to give the VA the benefit of the doubt, but clearly it's just as terrible as everyone says. Now after wasting two whole months I'm going to have to try and look for other resources. Don't waste your time like I did, and don't bother trying to get mental health services from the VA - find other community resources that will actually try and help.

My late father Robert was in the USAF for 27 years. He served our country in both the Korean War and in Vietnam. The wonderful people who work at American Lake helped my father after he became disabled due to health problems relating back to Vietnam. I have great respect and admiration for our military & their families as well as those who work to support our troops. Thank you, American Lake VA, for your kindness, care and compassion. God Bless You & Happy Veteran's Day ️
