Who knows what kind of time you're gonna have at the old dog tavern, definitely a lot of potential here, really great staff and atmosphere. Unless one of the owners is around, that soul needs real help more than kalamazoo needs their bar. Four stars because you're not allowed to bring your dog to Old Dog Tavern despite an ample beer garden out back, Arcadia (rip) down the street did it, get your poop in a group and figure it out OD.

This is the quintessential dive bar of Kalamazoo. From the owner right down the line- the staff, food and regulars which I like to include myself as one. Got a much needed polish a few years ago from the new owner who has had and still has other successful businesses in town. Please stay away, you'll ruin it. Jk, that aspect of the dive bar does not exist here as long as you respect that you are in the oldest bar in Kalamazoo(debate), it's still here for a reason, you are a visitor, you will he treated accordingly.
Nice venue. Good food. The food was more sophisticated than I would have ever expected. My shrimp and pasta dish was delicious. My son's burger was fresh and we'll made. They also had live music. I am glad we had dinner there.
Good neighborhood bar. Live music frequently! Excellent burgers. Can be a tight squeeze when busy. Service can be slow. Parking sucks.
Went in to hear the blues band, had a little food while there. Fun atmosphere, good music. Small menu but good food.
