I've been a big fan of these guys since switching over to them from a charter bank a few years back. The biggest reason for moving was their Simply Free account - was not keen on paying a monthly fee to my previous bank when the majority of my transactions were online bill payments. There are a few disadvantages of dealing with a smaller credit union, but I have been happy enough with the services they offer through there website and mobile app, with the benefit of a physical branch when I need one.

I’d give Zero stars for Valley First if I could. They have temporarily “lost” where some of my funds are, not applied for an RESP grant, booked me an appointment when the branch was closed, the list of my complaints could go on forever. I’d have done better sticking the money under my mattress.

I love Valley First and credit unions in general! I have their Simply Free account and it is 100% free for what I need to do (even sending e-transfers is free). I almost never have to go into the branch because I can do everything online or via an ATM at almost any other credit union, but when I have gone in, the staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. The downtown branch has free parking for customers in the back.

I have been trying to open an account for my son. It's my 4th visit with I'd. First time they did not realize a 10 year old could open an account without a SIN second time the brock branch was shutting down and they did not have an agent avail. 3rd and 4th time no agent at main branch. It should not be so hard to open an account for a 10 year old. They are not very sure of what they are doing these days. They posted a reply 2 months ago below. They said I would get a follow up from Alana. This never happened either. Don't expect too much.
