Dropped by after visiting the Shimogama Jinja shrine. Heard that this is the birthplace of mitarashi dango - being fans of it, we absolutely had to try!! We had one serving of their signature mitarashi dango (sweet soy sauce rice balls), and a bowl of assorted Japanese desserts consisting of warabimochi, green tea balls, vanilla ice cream, red beans, and small slices of mandarin orange. Everything was not too sweet and not too expensive as well. The mitarashi dango was super delicious, the sauce tasted just right. Warabimochi is yummy too! Served with hot tea will recommend this to anyone a fan of mochi :)

I liked balls very much. There is a shrine called Shimogamo shrine close by. It’s one of the world heritages in Kyoto. Visit the shrine and hop in here for a tea.

Little bit far from the main Kyoto attractions but definitely worth a visit. The mitarashi dango is good and prices are decent. The area around this spot is also nice to explore if you are staying for a longer period in Kyoto.

Delicious Mitarashi Dango. I like how the small mochi balls that make up the dango are small, as it's easier to consume. The sweet sauce also compliments it. There are also a variety of Japanese sweets here as well.

Ordered みたらし団子andわらびもち. The sauce for the 団子was not too sweet and I love theわらびもち. Will definitely try the other items next time.
