We just started with Home Instead and am I ever happy that we did!! Felt a little strange letting an outsider in, but it is exactly what we needed for my Dad. He lives alone, lost his wife a few years ago, has mild alzheimers and is lonely during the day. The care provided is unique to his needs and fills his time with what he is missing. Human contact outside the family. We get a report after every visit...from the bottom of my heart I can say this experience is truly invaluable...worth every penny

Staff are very kind, genuinely care about their clients. It feels more like a family friend is coming to stay with mom.
Home instead is a wonderful company to work with who truly cares about its clients. I highly recommend them to anyone trying to find that special caregiver to look after their loved one!
Very disappointed. As background, after much searching, we had found this company and liked their approach and found they met our standards for quality care. We also liked that they were a family-oriented company (or so we thought). We were seeking support for our elderly mother who has Alzheimer's. We had used them in past for their companionship service but, as our mother's condition started to progress, we asked to search for a PSW to support her increased needs. After a search was done, we were advised that one could not be found, and were left to search out another. Fast forward - now in a pandemic - our family had made changes to support our mother by taking part-time hours only. With the opening of Phase 3 in Ontario, I had been asked to search out support and/or to justify extension for part-time work pending find of an appropriate PSW to support our mother. I was given a deadline of 2 weeks. I had asked if the company could provide this support, or at least provide a letter to state that more time was needed for search or to simply state that this was not possible given the shortage of PSW during this pandemic - with the intent of getting support to extend my part-time leave so could search out support. This request was denied. They were focused on their company image as did not want to advise on any \care plan\ with their company name (still do not understand what this means). Expected that, as a family-oriented company that cared about its clients, this request would be supported - but appears that they are more focused on their image above helping an effort to support the needs of a person in need. We are now left to search out support from another company that may not meet quality standards. Just want to emphasize - they, like any other company, will be focused on their image. Unfortunate.
I needed someone to provide overnight care for my dad on short notice as I live across the country. On my first call to Home Instead Ottawa, I reached Angie who was immediately helpful and responsive. She had a care provider lined up within two hours and that wonderful lady, Shuvra provided my dad with the most kind and considerate care imaginable. Shaun co-ordinated communication with Shuvra and arranged for an extension of the arrangement until we could get my dad into long term care. I can't thank Home Instead Ottawa enough, particularly Angie, Shuvra and Shaun who provided excellent service in a very difficult situation. I highly recommend.
