Well recommended a visit to this beautiful park. Spend time where wandering the well kept gardens. You will see the workers cutting grass and cleaning by hand (a painstaking task I am sure) amongst traditionally dressed too! Very enjoyable and so easy to take beautiful photos all around

Scenic, yet quiet and not so well known area. Few tourists when I went, but quite a few locals walking about in kimonos. Lovely on the eyes all around.
My first impression of this garden was that it looked like a miniature garden at a theme park. Maybe because the garden looked impeccable and a tad too artificial from a distance. And my impression was right. Apparently this is a newly re-created garden (2015) based on the original garden that existed on the ground of Kanazawa Castle as a private garden of Maeda clan. You can have a nice quick stroll around this small garden that utilizes the castle wall as one of the elements. I’m sure the garden will appear lot more natural in time.
The garden is wonderful - especially so if you view it from inside the rest house. For 720 yen you are offered a nice cup of matcha and a small wagashi by charming ladies. There is a cleaning period from 12-1 pm, when the “tea ceremony” (you don’t actively partake apart from a brief bow) isn’t available.
Nice detour before going to castle
