Japanese confectionery shop in Kanazawa. Makes and sells good range of traditional sweets. Small colorful balls of light wafer with jelly inside seem to be their original sweets here. They also have two other shops in d city but this is d main shop. Helpful and kind shop assistant. Car park at d back.

Life's Abroad

Wow! I love daifuku and I love mochi. When we were in Kanazawa, I searched for the best mochi and was pointed towards this shop. I’m sure they don’t get a lot of foreigners down this end of town, but the shop assistant was so polite and helpful and explained the items to us. We settled on a coconut and caramel mochi and a daifuku style roll. We also had the pleasure of sampling the dango. Without a doubt, the best Japanese confectionary we have eaten throughout the many places to Japan we’ve been. The items are so delicate, so perfect, so delightful. We wish we were still in Kanazawa as we would be buying more. Would make a perfect gift for someone at home too.

・金沢市、本多町の菓匠　高木屋。 ・パイ菓子 大納言パイとあんずパイを知り合いから頂きました。 上手い。食べた瞬間の感想です。和菓子さんなのにというか、和菓子屋さんだからこそなのか… パイ生地の焼き方に腕があります。パイ生地の重層感も高級感あります。 大納言の小豆は、程よい甘みとパウダースノーの様なホクホクとした食感。上品です。 あんずジャムは、爽快感がありながら、甘みも水分の量も絶妙です。 大納言もあんずジャムも生地と相性よく、ササッと食べてしまいます。

お土産に紙ふうせんをいただきました。 最中生地の中に　砂糖菓子が入っていました。 ふんわり柔らかい感じのお菓子です。 懐かしい気持ちになりました。
