We’ve recently had a big overhaul in management and maintenance. Lots of great things! We’ve lived here for over four years and really enjoy the quiet complex, garages, pool, and walking path.

Nice area and excellent maintenance staff, but that's about it. The gate is rarely working, and the garbage area is always overflowing. Have to close the windows driving through the entrance because it reeks so bad. Waken up usually 2-3 times a week by someone in a mustang parking lot revving the engine at midnight, and management never addressing it. Cops and GBI everywhere one morning because there was a double homicide. Icing on the cake is that at the finish line, they will con you out of your deposit, even if you go out of your way to keep your apartment in pristine condition. Take your business elsewhere and never look back.

The apartments are nice, it's the business part is of poor quality. One of your apartment managers seems to have a problem with People of Color. She tells you one thing to get the application fee but then states that you need a 650 credit score after being told that the score might be less because of your credit being pulled in June. Don't attempt to lease an apartment here. You will regret it

As me and a friend of mine were starting to play basketball until a property manager Lady named Cheryl approach us rudely and told us to get off the basketball court. Me and my friend did not know the court was private due to that we have played there before but understood where she was coming from. I feel like her approach to us was disrespectful was not appreciated.

My husband and I are about to move out because we are moving states, but I am honestly more sad about leaving this apartment community than this area. If we could take HLCA with us, we would! Maintenance is extremely friendly. Sometimes they are backed up — short staff, but they will get to you in a timely manner. I hear a lot of complains about the landlord (Carol), but she is awesome. She will kick out anyone on the first offense of drug usage. We had a neighbor who was evicted because she just kept inviting over her boyfriend who ended up leave his drugs in her apartment. Whoops. She goneeee. She will only get on to you if you’re doing something you’re not. These complaints on here about the basketball court are from people who didn’t live here. They weren’t paying for amenities, so yeah she’s gonna kick them out. No bug issues ever. I have felt safe here from the moment we arrived. Even when my husband was on the road for over a year out of our 4 years here. I would recommend this place to anyone that’s not trying to cause any riff-raff.

I give Houston lake a 5 star review solely based on my tour with the young lady up front, Ms. Angel. I toured several different apartments while I was visiting Georgia as I plan to be transferred in early May, I did not feel comfortable at any of the other complexes and felt as they were rushing me out of their office. Ms. Angel took her time to discuss the area, apartments, high schools and great food options. This was the second time I came to visit Houston Lake, the first time I spoke with the lady in the back with blonde hair, I believe she is the manager. I crossed this community off of my list as she was very rude and short with me but I decided to go back because they are the only apartments located in the veterans school district. I’m glad I went back and had a completely different experience speaking with Angel.

I would give it 0 stars if I could. They are trying to make us pay over 800 for carpet that wasn’t even new when we moved in and took months to notify us that we owed money and are trying to send it to collections now. Also, they took days to replace air conditioning in the summer. If you want comfy living, do not live here. The manager, Carol, is super rude and doesn’t care about you or your family. If you pay a pet deposit I just want to let you know that it is only for the convenience of you having a pet. It will not cover and damages and I’m pretty sure the manager pockets that money. Paid over 300 to have a pet and they said it won’t cover any damages after we already moved out. Terrible management.

This is the best apartment complex I have lived in. Janna is very helpful. My move in process was a breeze. The apartment was very clean upon inspection prior to move in. I have an amazing view of the sunset over Houston Lake from my back patio each evening. I have never heard my neighbors as no bedroom walls really share each other for the 3 bedroom units. I am on the top floor...so lugging groceries up and down is draining...if you live on the 3rd floor, definitely use a moving company. I do not regret that decision at all. The pool is gorgeous, neighbors are friendly...I'm not sure I'll ever want to leave. I downsized from a 5 bedroom house with almost 2 acres....and I miss none of that! This is a great neighborhood. Great schools. Great location. Beautiful landscaping.
