Had a commercial vinyl floor installed several years ago in basement of 1920s vintage house. Much of the existing concrete floor required grinding and application of a liquid leveling compound before vinyl tiles could be applied. Floor looked beautiful when new, but began having problems soon after. Research has indicated that the concrete was not properly prepared by the installers...apparently it is supposed to be acid etched before adhesive is applied. This was not done. Floor began lifting in a number of areas within a year, and now looks awful in many areas. Contacted the store about a year ago, asking for solutions/alternatives to make the floor more usable again. As a reasonable and polite person, I understood that perfection was not possible in an old house with a "Michigan basement". Owner immediately INSISTED that he wanted to come over and look at the floor and would be on my doorstep in the neighborhood within the hour (his idea, not mine). He never showed up, never called, and totally blew me off, after keeping me waiting for hours. The original floor cost upwards of 4000 to install. I am dealing with a seriously ill spouse who has been confined to a nursing home since a massive stroke 4 years ago. Time and money are precious commodities. The episode has left an indelibly bad taste in my mouth. A different subset of his crew did an excellent job repairing a wood floor in another part of the house, as well as replacing some ventilator covers. I really don't understand the issues or what the backstory may be. Everytime I walk through my basement anymore, it erases the initial good feelings that I had for this company. There are plenty of other places to purchase tile. I would do better homework in the future.
