I had an absolutely fantastic experience at the one week taster course in Waters and Acland. A wonderful setting and a truly creative environment where the experience and expertise of the team there shines through. Never have I gained such insight and such clear and precise guidance in a class setting. Graham and all the team as well as the other students were friendly, helpful and the whole experience was a real eye opener on how finely crafted and original furniture is produced, by hand, in exquisite detail. I will return. Highly recommended.
I completed a 44 week designer maker course at Waters and Acland in 2016. The year exceeded all my expectations. I went from having zero experience in furniture making to being confident in both designing and making. The level of teaching I received was second to none and Graham, our tutor, always went above and beyond to help us with our self designed projects. It also doesn’t hurt that the workshop also happens to be in the beautiful Lake District!
I took the plunge in 2017 and joined the 44-week designer maker course with Waters and Acland. A truly wonderful experience, learning from some of the best designers and furniture makers in the country, and providing me with the skills to start my own furniture business. I had no furniture making experience prior to the course, so this is a real testament to the skill, passion and patience of the teaching team.
An amazing experience, with expert tuition! I went on the 44 week designer/maker course in 2017 starting with little wood working experience. Over the year my skills and confidence grew with Will and Oli introducing me to the art of creative design, and Tim and Graham teaching & nurturing woodwork skills to a precision I didn't think possible before I started the course.
