One of few restaurant in Osaka that serve authentic Malaysian food in Osaka. It is always good to have home town food during this COVID-19 period.

For Malaysian, this is the place to go if you are craving for Malaysian food. The nasi ayam tasted amazing. Try the Kobe steak also. Delicious!
Kenny is very friendly owner and nice to talk to. But he might get very busy because he is the only one who cook for us. So you might have to wait for the foods if the shop get crowded (reservation is recommended). However, the foods are delicious and worth the wait. If you love Malaysian foods, I highly recommend you to give it a try.
First thing that hit me was that they showed me a place card which said you have to order 1 drink and 1 main course for each person otherwise you can't order. Also the staff could barely communicate in English which was a huge downside but we ordered anyway. I couldn't figure out of the drinks we got which were seriously tiny for the price, if they were free refills. Tried to use Google translate but still unsuccessful... Now on to the food... Tried nasi goreng and a beef dish. It was ok. Definitely had better Malaysian food. But not bad... The service is very slow because they only have 1 chef.
I ate Nyonya Chicken Curry here. The curry served in Malaysian style, it's different with chicken curry in Indonesia. It's really good. I met with ginger ale again after 2 years. And I can drink sweet tea there. All tea in convenient store is not sweet. Their food is moslem friendly. You should try it if you visit Dotonbori.
It took more than 40 mins for my food to arrive. There was only a family of 4 that ordered before me. The ventilation is non existent and the smoke from the cooking made everyone cough and sneeze. I smelled like cooked food when i stepped out. They had whiskey bottles linned up on the "bar counter" but didnt see alcohol on the menu though. That being said when the food arrived, the roasted chicken rice was good but lacked the proper chilli sauce. They gave a sweet and sour chilli instead. The belachan kangkong was very good. My Nasi Sambal Goreng arrived an hour after I ordered it and wasnt anything special.
Great atmosphere. The Hainanese chicken is so good.
I've limited Japanese and placing my order was quite a challenge for me but the staffs were very patient in explaining the menu. I'm also in love with the food because it's delicious and cheap. Kenny the owner was kind enough to greet me personally and we had a little chat. Basically, the atmosphere, the food, and the hospitality are 3 main reasons why Kenny Asia is a must try in Osaka.
