For \government\ it was a pleasant experience for a change. We went to find out about building permits, and requirements. The desk person, and the advisor were both very polite, professional, and helpful. Doesn't get any better then this. High marks for the City of Kent!

Michelle is the best! Everyone at this office is super helpful and friendly. Permits can be a bit tedious, but they are helpful in providing the correct forms and direction. They seem to go out of their way in providing the right people to speak to as well which I really appreciate. With all the forms and communication, I get why people may have rated them lower. However I've found that if you are willing to work with their processes things make progress. I had to wait a few extra weeks because a misspelling on email. I also had to provide additional details on blueprints, that were noted I. The details for my submission. I get it, and appreciate their concern for safety. Better to get things done right.

I love dealing with the city of Kent because they’re very professional and pretty fast on getting your permit.

Completely unreachable. Highly recommend you do whatever you want without getting a permit, since they don't care.

The system is incredibly inefficient. In order to pay for the permits, I had to wait in line at the permit center to get the invoice (because despite them emailing me an invoice, the price apparently changes daily so you have to go the day they email you in order to use the invoice they send you). Once they confirm the invoice price, you have to go stand in line at the customer service center to pay. And then you have to GO BACK to the permit center and show the receipt so you can pick up the permit. Additionally, I was told they can't take payment online or over the phone so you have to drop off the permits in person and then come back on a different day to pay/pick up the permits.
