On my recent trip to Bangkok with my son, we had the opportunity to use the BTS Skytrain almost everyday. The facilities are very well maintained and I found the trains well timed and on schedule. The RFID card system of entrance is used and single use cards need to be redeposited into the gates for them to open. Wonderful way to ensure zero waste. I found the connectivity to be better than the metro system (the Skytrain is entirely elevated all of the way). Do be aware of rush hour though, when the trains get very full indeed. However, I must highly commend the commuters for their very orderly approach in both entering and exiting the cabs, despite the rush. I even had an instance where a policeman/security guard helped out but ensuring that the doors closed behind (and not on) me as I was the last to board. You could say he had my back. Gestures such as these leave a lasting impression ... And a positive one at that!

The Best/Fastest way to "get around" Bangkok. Bangkok's elevated, modern, clean, air conditioned, inexpensive, mass transit system-- was built 20 years ago (and modelled after a similar system used in Vancouver, Canada)! Its two lines have 43 stops, and cover 24 miles... and don't get slowed down (but do get very crowded) at "Rush Hour"! It provides travellers as well as "Locals" an ability to get to work and home as well as visit many of Bangkok's attractions. The cost is based on the distance travelled. One can now purchase a "Rabbit card"-- which allows easy, speedy, efficient "electronic payment" for the BTS Skytrain, as well as other transport services and many "participating restaurants"!! It has been awarded TripAdvisor's "Certificate of Excellence"-- and also been selected as the #2 thing to do in Bangkok [out of 587 choices listed]. I hope that this Review has been helpful.
This metro train facility is really cool, it connects all the major tourist spots inside Bangkok, major hotels, malls and much more The trains are really good, cheap and well arranged. We can get the BTS map easily from anywhere and this map contains the details of stations and route in a very detailed manner, which helps the travellers a lot. Its better to travel in BTS train inside Bangkok to avoid traffic.
The fastest and easiest way to get around Bangkok and the best way to beat Bangkok’s notorious traffic jams. If you take the Skytrain often would recommend getting a contactless smart card (Rabbit card) or a day pass. Trains are very frequent and are fully air-conditioned but be warned, the train gets packed like sardines during rush hour.
Actually I rather prefer taking cabs as its more comfortable but taking the sky train or a motorbike - like most locals do - makes sense as this city seems to be congested with traffic until night time. Unfortunately the ticket machine only takes coins and there is usually a queue at the cashiers.
Hands down the best way to move around town! Trains run every 5-7 mins, quick, cool and fast!
The BTS Skytrain works like clockwork, with clear maps and verbal instructions in English as well as updates on-screen inside the trains. Seats down both sides plus ample standing place works well.
The BTS works like a charm. It's a great way to move about the city quickly. It even goes to the airport. I reco.mend buying a daypass to bypass the lines. Only drawback is that the network is not very extensive but it covers most of the places you will want to go.
