I highly recommend Maui Surf Lessons if you want to try surfing in Maui! We booked for my two kids (13 and 11 years old) during their first trip to Hawaii. Jason was the instructor and he took care to teach them the technique but also about the ocean and the importance of taking care of it too! It was both their first time paddling out in the ocean without us but Jason took great care and made them feel at ease. They both caught waves and were able to stand up! After an hour, they came in to shore to rest and get some water before going back out again. He had a go pro camera that he clipped on the front of the surfboard and caught amazing photos of their time. What great memories! Highly recommend this company. Thank you Jason for making surfing fun and enjoyable for my kids.

My boyfriend and I had an incredible time during our first surfing lesson with Greg! It was one of the most memorable and fun parts of the trip. Greg made it feel really safe and fun. He helped me paddle out against a bit of current and gave me all the verbal cues needed to stand up for the first time! We each caught several waves and were super stoked! We also appreciated all of the memories- Greg took us out individually on each wave, provided feedback after every attempt and attached a GoPro to the board to capture it all. Wish we could do it all over again! Mahalo! :)
Maui Surf lessons is amazing! A Maui vacation must! Got lessons for three teenagers and it was the highlight of their trip to Maui. Jason did a great job of explaining what they needed to do and they all surfed. He even emailed photos later in the day taken by a GoPro from the end of the boards. The kids loved checking them out and sharing them. Couldn’t have asked for a more friendly and helpful instructor. Very professional! Thanks for everything.
This was our favorite adventure in Maui. Greg was a great teacher! The whole family caught a few waves. Nice location with calm waves for novices. Really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend!
My 8 yo son and myself had the best time with our surf instructor J'sun! J'sun was super fun and got along well with my son. He made us both feel very comfortable. While I was paddling out to catch more waves, I felt very much at ease leaving J'sun with my son. I never felt like I had to keep a watchful eye which left me to enjoy the experience more. J'sun was professional and did all he could to make our experience the best possible. I left the beach feeling like it was the best experience on Maui. My gratitude to J'son and Maui Surf Lessons!!! :-)
It wasn’t just the great and patient instructor our 11 year old daughter had but the location the company chooses for the class. It was nearly a private beach between Kihei and Lahaina. Not a factory style surf school where people are on top of each other. So much space and perfect waves for a beginner. Overall the best choice, and our daughter wants to do keep doing it. Not a one and done type experience.
My family and I had an incredible lesson and time out on the water today with Greg. He was incredible at explaining how to surf to each of us and our entire group was able to surf on or first wave attempt! I can’t stress enough how effective Greg’s teaching style is and how easily he helped our group get to surfing! He also took fantastic pictures for our group and sent them right after the lesson along with recommendations around town. I would recommend Greg and Maui Surf Lessons to anyone visiting. My fiancé and I had a joint private lesson with Jason and it was a wonderful experience. Jason was a great instructor- he met us at the level we were at and ensured we felt comfortable during the whole process. He was encouraging and positive the whole time and we were able get in some good rounds with his help! In addition, the company seems to truly care about their community and the ocean. Thank you so much for showing us a great time!
