I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but this facility was dismissive of my family members health concerns involving Covid during their stay. While some nurses were attentive, management and attending physicians seemed disinterested in hearing about our concerns and there was a lack of communication in general. On top of that, personal items went missing and not returned. Not recommended.

This place should get bo stars. My husband had a bad stroke in February 2020 he was placed at st johnland on the sunset wing. The head nurse Helen made nurse cratchet seem like mother theresa! They had no compassion they left him sitting in a wheeler chair all day,he got bed sores was rushed to stony brook hospital with pneumonia and severely dehydrated. I wouldn't recommend this place to care for my dog.i got my husband transferred from there before he was even discharged from the hospital. They put on a good horse and pony show. Stay away from this place .

My father has been a resident of St. Johnland for almost a year now. Compared to other homes we had experience with this place is much better. We have had a few issues/complaints but for the most part they have been addressed and resolved almost immediately. I find that the staff during the week is much better than weekends, I believe they are short on weekends which isn't really the fault of those aides and nurses. Some aides are incredibly caring and helpful while it's clear that others are just there for a paycheck. The facility's response to the current pandemic and weekly communication regarding updates on current cases has been outstanding. While it sucks not being able to visit my father right now, the staff at St. Johnland has gone above and beyond with helping me talk to him daily on the phone and they have even facetimed me a few times so I could actually see him.

My grandpa is there and we have to pull him out after a month he gets no pt on the weekends and just lies in bed and we drop food of for him and it gets there an hour later.

I would advise anyone considering putting your loved one here against it. The place is severely understaffed. Patients are left soaked in urine. Infections such as C diff regularly breakout. The understaffing is due to administrative cuts and it creates a worsening work environment. Most of the nurses are good but stretched thin..most of the aides are ok but also stretched thin. The Pt and Ot are very good and they address the patients needs. My mother left there with a pulled shoulder due to an abusive aide who she had prior problems with. All the aide did was talk about how the other employees are lazy..meanwhile she was abusive. This place is not the same as it used to be. They arent retaining good staff anymore..they are turning over at a rapid rate. The administrators are arrogant and deny any problems exist. Do not send anyone you care about there.

This was a horrible place that dehumanized care. Our mom had no mobility and no ability to speak. Within the 1st two weeks, she had a huge bruise on her forehead, which went unreported, and deep cuts on her arm. Within the next 2 weeks, she had a severe UTI, which put her in the hospital. The hospital reported her bruises. We filed a complaint with the state. They said they found no issues there. I am writing this review because the treatment of patients there still haunts me, and I'd like to warn anyone else considering this facility. They called the room where they served lunch, the feeding station. We observed 1 aide shoveling food into about 6-7 patients at a time. The roommate for our mom received new medication one day and she was unresponsive all day. No one ever came to check on her. Please stay away.

Please save your loved ones and do not send them here. My mom was in there for therapy after a TBI and it was the worst experience. The aides where horrible to her and the management did not care enough about our complaints to do anything. It is a horrible place.
