There is not a better amp or pro audio tech in East Tennessee. Don't be fooled by those guys that are the \tube only\ repair techs. All that means is they don't know anything about electronics. Tube amps are the easiest amps to work on. Additionally, there is no one better for pro audio repair. Whether it's a mixing board, speaker array, or power amp, The Sound Doctor is the best. I own multiple live sound setups, as well as multiple guitar amps, and I take them all to the Sound Doctor.

Great amp tech! John did fantastic work on my old 78 Twin Reverb and it sounds better than ever. He's also a super nice guy who you could spend the day talking to. Highly recommend!
Pros: Knowledgeable Affordable Experienced Con: A more desirable customer service experience In light of Mr. Sound Doctor's response, I wanted to clarify. I did pay for the amp repair with my own credit card and I did the initial drop off. I only had face to face interactions with the sound doc. I did take the amp on behalf of my friend. But I paid for the repair and handled all face to face encounters. With that being said, the sound doctor is as I stated above in my initial review, knowledgeable, skilled, and very reasonably priced. But I wanted any potential customers or persons that might interact with the sound doctor to know that he is probably the best in Knoxville area, but to be prepared for a more desirable customer service experience. I wish the best for Mr. Sound doctor and hope his business flourishes. And I apologize for the lack of communication. My friend lives over two hours away and I work full time. I am very sorry for any inconvenience.
Did a great job repairing my Carver Speakers and followed up by phone to insure customer satisfaction. Santa gives them two thumbs up!
My experience. I looked up on the internet amplifier repair Knoxville Tennessee. The Sound Dr was the first suggestion by Google search. I called the number and his voicemail states to go online and fill out a repair form. I left a voicemail assuming it would be easier to drop off the amplifier and allow him to diagnose the problem. I honestly have no clue what is wrong with the amp. He (I do not know the owners name) replied to my call and was apparently irritated that I called without filling out an online repair form. He informed me that multiple people keep calling him, some of which are from unknown numbers, and this keeps him from being able to repair amplifiers. I asked him why he was upset with me... At that point he told me that he would allow me to go on my way. Or something to that regards. He then hung up on my. This guy might be an amp repair guru. I'll never know. I would say if you want him to work on your stuff don't call. Go to his website and fill out a form. He is obviously a one man show. He can't\u200b,\ answer the phone and repair amps at the same time\. His words not mine. If he is still in business in a year he might be the best amp repair tech in the country. But his customer service is about pitiful.
