Beautifully carved wooden temple. So quiet. Lovely place to go and relax

The Kokusekiji temple is home to the annual sominsai. A winter water purification ceremony. Hundreds of men walk around in nothing but loincloth and douse themselves in cold water to purifying themselves. The festivities last all night. It ends with the winner taking home a somin bukuro or lucky bag. The festival is held every year around February 10th
