One can find buses of every place from here. Extremely crowded and noisy. Easy to reach via mini bus from Esplanade. Riverbank sideby.. beautiful place to wait for the bus. Plenty of places to eat but hygiene is still an issue. Can be confusing for newcomers.

A very busy place but if you want to have some peace then just get in the river side park.
The colonial pavilion houses many little shrines tended by priests. It can be bustling during religious holidays. Food and flowers vendors as well as barbers seem to be conducting a brisk trade. Down the steps towards the Ganges, families of maslis tend their trade. I visited Babughat a few times over several trips to Kolkata and eventually made friends with the maslis while sharing cups of tea. Early massages seem to be done on wrestlers living nearby, but any man can get a great 1.5 hour massage for IR 300.
It's a great place during Durga Poojas 10th day(dussehra) you should come to see all those idols going into the water with people coming from around the city to do so . And on a normal day it's a ghat from where u can see both howrah bridge and 2 hoogly bridge (also known as vidyasagar setu). U can usually witnesss awesome sunsets during clear days.
