Howrah Station is the largest railway complex in India and it is a railway station which serves Kolkata and Howrah. Approximately 687 passenger trains pass through the station each day requiring its 23 platforms and serving more than 2 million passengers per day with a high train handling capacity. Howrah Junction is one of five intercity railway stations serving the city of Kolkata, the others being Sealdah, Santragachi, Shalimar, and Kolkata railway station. The station is located in Howrah on the west bank of the Hooghly River.1373 stations across India are directly connected to Howrah Railway Station. The station is the divisional headquarters for the Eastern Railway. The station has 23 platforms. Platforms 1 to 15 are located in the old complex, referred to as "Terminal 1". It serves the local and long-distance trains of Eastern Railway and local trains of South Eastern Railway. Platforms 16 to 23 are in the new complex, referred to as "Terminal 2". It serves the long distance trains of South Eastern Railway. There is a large covered waiting area between the main complex and the platforms and other areas for passengers awaiting connecting trains.Googleprovides RailWire Free high speed wifi. In addition, there is a transit passenger facility with dormitory, single room and double room accommodation. First class passengers wait in an air-conditioned area with balcony views of the Kolkata Skyline and the Howrah Bridge. The station platforms have carriageways for motor vehicles within the complex including two carriageways to platforms 8 and 9 for Eastern Railway and to platforms 21 and 22 for South Eastern Railway. Flyovers at the ends of the platforms allow motor vehicles to exit the complex quickly. Sampath Rail Yatri Niwas and Regional Rail Museum are a part of "Terminal 2" Howrah station complex.

The best station ever I visited.big place crowded but it's ok big display board,good announcements of trains, all trains are on time, food is also good at station , station is clean. And you can go anywhere in India from this rail station. Waiting rooms are big and attached bathroom. And bus stand is also near and good.

Very spacious, historic and one of the best railway stations in the country. Huge crowd of commuters transit through every day. Variety of vendors sell a wide range of refreshments both dry and freshly cooked.

Suresh Lakshmipathy (SLK)

Another terminus train station in India, right on the banks of river hoogly. If the setting wasn't spectacular, surely the services are. The prepaid taxi stand right outside is very efficient and operates 247 ! Uber is right across and so is a bus stand and ferry terminal. Only wish the interiors of the train station and exits were better maintained. Safety wise one of the best train stations in the country, with strict police presence .
