My experience at Red Salt wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything impressive either. It's high-end, so expect a high bill for a mediocre meal. I don't normally fine dine while on vacation, wanting to stretch my dollar out as much as I can, but the resort I'm staying at neighbors the one that house's Red Salt and I wasn't a fan of the breakfast so my husband and I decided to give this a try
It was early on a Wednesday morning, there were only a few other patrons so were seated immediately. We both began with Pineapple Mimosas (19.00 each), which I thought lacked flavor and booze. I started my day with the Three Egg Omelet (choice of mushrooms, spinach, red onion, bell pepper, tomato, green onion, bacon, ham, Portuguese sausage, Swiss or cheddar cheese, 23.00) with side of Red Salt potatoes (included). I make a pretty mean omelet myself so I was not impressed. Zero flavor, aside from the salt I piled on. The potatoes, however, were delicious. My husband enjoyed the Avocado Toast (toasted garlic bread, caramelized onion and mushrooms, Kamuela tomatoes, Kailani greens, avocado, 1 egg over easy, aged balsamic drizzle, 22.00), and I did, too, of how much I was able to steal. Absolutely wonderful. The avocado was fresh, not one brown spot, the balsamic drizzle added a lot of extra delicious flavor and the egg was cooked to perfection. I should have gotten it!!!!
The service was meh. Our server did the bare minimum, which I found annoying because these high prices should also pay for exceptional service. Not subpar, but excellent. I had to ask for refill on my mimosa. Tsk tsk.
Overall the experience was okay. For 100 we filled our stomachs and kickstarted our long weekend of day drinking, but we could have used that for an entire days worth of meals. I probably wouldn't return unless I was staying at the resort.
