Friendly staff answered my call ahead to ask if a 15 tent rate would be acceptable as a day pass for hiking on the property to access a view of Lake Whitney on the Brazos River where the BNSF railway crosses via an impressive bridge. More friendly staff got me checked in promptly. I was very impressed! They even allowed me to charge my Chevy Spark EV electric vehicle while hiking. Best of all, I got the photo I was after. I intend to go back for more.

Love this place!! I am editing my original review. I do love this place and was going to stay here as a permanent home base, however however, the manager (that has rotted meth teeth) informed me that my trailer is too old and I must go. The owner is great but manager no where to be found and does not respond to text messages. It has allowed me to have wonderful memories.

I just spent the day at the Rusty Armadillo and just wanted to leave this review. I loved the scenery, loved the main hangout house, loved the view from the top of the \mountain\. I'm so glad we found it and will be making plans to go again too. Staff was friendly and helpful, even the owner joined us for lunch, and is very kind :) the kids spend a couple hours in the tire swing (must see to appreciate), and my wife and I enjoyed outdoor lunch at the gazebo. You will not be dissatisfied there :)

Stayed one night in November, 2018. This park is very secluded. It is a beautiful setting. When we initially arrived, we were greeted by the park manager. She was very friendly and helpful. The sites are gravel, but our site was quite level and required very little effort to set up the RV. This little park even had Wi-Fi available for the guests and it worked quite well. The area was well lit at night. Everything worked as it should (water and electric). Would definitely stay overnight again if passing through the area.
