Transparency in the Property Markets International housing markets are distorted by biased information, lack of relialable data and uncertain valuations. Mimorada is an independent online platform conceived to support housing buyers and investors there when independent information is scarce, focusing on the markets in Spain and South East Asia. Loving transparency Since 2012, Mimorada has developed several housing valuation models based on GIS and Big Data, processing more than 25 million housing units and thousands of time series provided by public and private institutions in Europe and Asia-Pacific. Our work consists on providing fair housing valuations to prospective investors, urban planners and policy makers. We adhere to the principles of Open Goverment Data and Smart Cities and we believe that economic cycles could be mitigated if independent and reliable information was made widely available. Project Milestones Feb 2011 - Merging maps and data Mimorada was conceived by Francisco Garcia Moro and Jorge Villamor Cantera during the collapse of the Spanish property market in 2011. We envisioned that Geographic Information Systems could became a vital contribution in making property markets more sustainable and efficient. Nov 2011 - Presentation at ActuaUPM The concept idea, developed by a team of five brilliant professionals from the fields of mathematics, marketing, finance and architecture, was finalist at the ActuaUPM VIII Competition. Jun 2012 - Functional feasibility The technical viability of the project is finally assesed by a set of backtesting statistical models. Aug 2012 - Prototypes Mimorada developed a new risk-assesment methodology based on geo-located probability models and intensive data mining. The results are available in our private area. Apr 2013 - Project development The business plan was ellaborated with the support of the European Center for Enterprise and Innovation, mentored by Jesus Gutierrez and Veronica Alvarez. Jul 2014 - Presentation in Asia A functional prototype for the South East Asia property markets was awarded at the MAD-SUN Penang Challenge. Mimorada is able to forecast the prices in offer of upscale housing units in Indonesia and Malaysia. Mimorada Limited was incorporated in Hong Kong with the aim of becoming a regional provider of Property consultancy services.
