The term 'PERHILITAN' is the abbreviation for ‘Perlindungan Hidupan Liar dan Taman Negara’ or 'Wildlife & National Parks Protection', is a governmental organisation that is responsible for the protection, management and preservation of wildlife and national parks in Peninsular Malaysia only. As for East Malaysia, the same tasks in Sabah are placed under the responsibility of the Sabah Wildlife Department and Sabah Parks, while for Sarawak, it is placed under the responsibility of Sarawak Forest Corporation.
