Don’t go to El Bajon if you want to dive El Bajon... Appreciate that Covid is an excuse for many things at the moment, and grateful for the opportunity to dive at all (as all the best rated dive centres in El Hierro seem to be closed at the moment because of the ongoing Covid restrictions - and marine life is simply incredible). But if you want to see one thing (the El Bajon crater), and all you are getting is just the number of dives you’ve paid for - you inevitably feel disappointed. It’s really ironic when a dive center called El Bajon won’t let you dive in El Bajon. Plus, there are other things that could be improved... Hopefully, the below is helpful if you have a choice as to who to dive with in the future. POSITIVES: • new looking basic equipment (scuba gear, wetsuits) • surface cover on the boat during the dive • plenty of hot water in the shower to warm up afterwards - it doesn’t run out even if you are the last person to shower ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: • No prior consultation / briefing with divers on the day what dive sites they will see. They just bring you someplace, tell you what it is 5 mins in advance. Basically, if you paid for 2 dives, you will get two dives. But if that’s not what you wanted to see - tough luck • no Nitrox available at the dive center • dive leaders are too fast - just swimming off - no time / attempt to explore the dive site area. No air level checks during the dive - which is fairly basic best practice • seemingly no interest in doing dives deeper than 20 metres (I guess if they have to drive the high altitude mountainous roads if they live anywhere outside of Restinga, that explains it) In a nutshell, a very basic offering / service and you get the number of dives you paid for. So more of a “fast food” type of place rather than a lovely local restaurant - to use the food analogy... Don’t think I’d be going back unless there is again no other dive center that is open.

Very good diving center. My wife and I have been there throughout February. We were there in 2018 as well. And we have pre-booked February 2020. We were very well cared for by Pamela, Jaime, Carlos and David who were good diving guides. Also Ana and Ninja who were doing their divemaster training were fabulous. The dive center is handy with plenty of space. Good changing rooms and showers. We really recommend the dive center / Monica and Lars

All the staff members were very welcoming and helpful. They made us feel like home since we arrived in the island. Great people! The materials were in mint condition and the facilities also great. It was a pleasure to spend the holidays here, we will be back for sure!
