We had a great experience with Mr. Paul Kim through the refinance process. He was extremely attentive and responsive during the whole process. I was so happy with his service I referred him to my colleague at work as well as my parents. We all went through the process together and Paul made sure to update us in a timely manner. Communication with interest smart home was hard. The loan officer mixed up my case with other cases and asked for documents for other properties creating confusion. She was very slow to respond to any emails and her communication was not very clear. The auto generated messages get sent out via emails and text messages after certain mile stones but they did not match with the actual status of the case which got me freaked out sometimes and got me very confused. My realtor was blocked on the phone and they did not communicate with her after some heated communication due to closing date being delayed. I had to do all the communication myself and keep asking for the status update which was a battle. The closing date was delayed over a week and we weren’t given the exact closing date until a few days before the date. They blamed on the underwriter for the delay but what made it difficult for us was not the delay itself but unclear communication on the progress and we had to keep extend our moving truck rentals and hotel stays. Lastly, what made me unhappy was that my wife was told on the phone by Jared that “his patient level was very low with us and we could find other bank” when she asked him about the buy down points that we were not aware of, which we had signed on early in the process unknowingly. We couldn’t afford to loose our earnest money and it was too late to change the lender so we closed with them. But we weren’t too fortunate with their level of service. It is very uncomfortable for me to leave this review since they would know who I am but I hope this honest feedback help them improve their service.

We started working with Justin at Interest Smart after our previous lender was not responsive to our request to refinance (they stated that Covid was causing delays on refinancing and could not get to our application right away). Justin went above and beyond (multiple times) during Covid to ensure that the process was as seamless as could be for us during these trying times. The process of refinancing was very smooth overall (despite any complications due to the current pandemic) and we are very satisfied with our loan terms. I highly recommend working with them for your home loan needs!
