Since the emergence of Pakistan on the map of the world, the examinations pertaining to the Matriculation and Intermediate level were conducted under the aegis of University of the Punjab. However, through the promulgation of the Punjab University Act (Amendment) Ordinance 1954, the Board of Secondary Education, Punjab was established in the province which took from the said University control of examinations of Secondary, Intermediate and Pakistani & Classical Languages. The first-ever examination for these stages was conducted in the year 1955. At the time of its inception in 1954, the Board inherited vast territorial jurisdictions for conducting examinations in the provinces of Punjab, Baluchistan, Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas. To accommodate overseas candidates, the Board also constituted examination centres at Kuwait and Nairobi (Kenya).

My first visit to BISE Lahore was in year 1983. Since the day, like many others, I have to go their for different reasons. Initial visites were for my educational needs, while now I have to go for my children. A very rushy place that is much quiet these days due to Covid situation. Only help desk is willing to help if when they are present at their seat. Visit to office is mostly an unpleasant experience and laborious job. It is difficult to find your required clerk, if he or she is there, they will re-direct you to another person and so on. Management is trying to take security measures but they are not up to the mark. There is no parking area for cars. You have to leave it un attended near to the office. Though a person is always there to park your vehicle by the boundary wall of BISE Lahore and charge fee. But on the same walls it is clearly mentioned for no parking at this place.

Matric and inter is under the bise lahore... all subjects of matric and inter level deals here... student must have to register with bise lahore who is in matric level. U have to register only once. When u go to the inter level u just have to put your registration number of board on your form.
