Company Profile In 1955, a small Auto-Engine repairing workshop was set up on a busy street, Brandreth road, in Lahore. The workshop consisted of basic machines and hand tools. Among other precision machines, Crankshaft Grinding Machine, was desperately needed as a major repairing tool used in all engine-overhauling workshops. Mr. Rashid Ahmed, the very young and ambitious founder of this workshop, built Pakistan’s first Crankshaft Grinding Machine with limited resources and much of manual work. Due to the precision of this machine and, of course, the fine workmanship offered by the workshop, it became a rapid success. Many outstation jobs started to pour in, as it became more popular through out the country. Since the mastermind, Rashid Ahmed, behind this whole operation was much progressive, an additional manufacturing facility Bright Eng. Co. was founded by him in the industrial area. This company, for the next three decades produced almost all kinds of quality machine tools including Lathes, Millings, Shapers, Drills and of course, the Crankshaft Grinders. This company also produced a complete Gasoline-Engines for CJ-5 Jeep for the Pakistan Army. In appreciation of this project, the President of Pakistan awarded Tamgha-e-Khidmat,(Civil Award) to him. In 1989, Neway Automobile Industries was formed by sons of the founder, Rashid Ahmed. After commencing, the very first priority was to improve the manufacturing facilities. Foreign qualified engineers and managers were incorporated to double the output of the factory within a year. A network of vendors was set up to increment the in-house production of many components and parts. Computerized designing helped to improve the R&D facility. Inventory and invoicing was also computerized to streamline the daily business.
