They wouldn’t sell me a shirt! Got kicked out trying to buy one. I didn’t even try it on, I got to check out and was told I’m not allowed in the store! ( no signs) saying no shirt no service.. Had to get a stranger during COVID to go in and ask to buy the shirt for me.

You know, I just about drove off the road when I saw this Field's Store while driving through Lake Cowichan. It felt like I hadn't been in one of these store since at least 1948, so naturally I had to pull in and take a gander. It transported me instantly back to my elementary school days when my grandmother used to bring me into the local Field's Store. Nothing has changed, still the most steerage selection of clothing you could imagine, but nonetheless some very good deals to be found if you're willing to sort through the mountains of stuff they have. They even have their own Field's Radio playing over the speakers, with the Field's announcer coming on every now and then talking about what a great selection they have and what a great place it is to work. I'm sure that guy is probably died of old age by now, but it still sounds just like it did over 50 years ago. The staff there was very pleasant to deal with, clearly some of them are career Field's employees, but they were all very nice and efficient. I spent about an hour in there, and I actually bought three shirts. They were all under 12. I did notice that they do have a fairly good clothing selection for the Tubby Tuna females and the Portly Gentleman! There aren't too many places where you can get a 4XL shirt these days, but they were plenty to be had there. And some of them were fairly stylish! And all of them were at a bargain price. None of this charge four times as much because you're at a Fat and Tall store either. Yes, it oozes steerage, but it really is like walking back in time as soon as you go through the doors. It even smells like a did 50 years ago. This was a rare find, and who knew you could find it right in Down Town Lake Cowichan!
