Catherine has been working with 15 year old my son Spencer for over a year. When Spencer & I talked about voice lessons, before starting, he talked about how much he enjoyed choir: he's a smart kid- a nerd, so it was surprising for us that he found this interest. Catherine's coaching, with a couple of visits to Doc. Scott Martin, her mentor, she has unleashed the voice in this manchild: he's been blessed with a voice similar to Josh Groban. His range and tone will bring tears to your eyes, raise your goosebumps. Catherine's focus has been technique: mouth shapes, postures, breath control. Yesterday at his lesson, she had him standing, knees bent, holding a broom between the crooks of his elbows behind his back! Oh, but the voice coming from him! It could make a mother weep.

Catherine has been helping me with my singing for over a year now, and it's been a blast! I came to her with almost no experience, and she has helped me improve dramatically with my breath support, confidence, and understanding of singing- I'm able to hit notes now that I just assumed weren't in my range. She definitely sees your potential as a performer and works hard to bring it out of you, even when you don't know it's there! She's also really fun to work with, which makes the learning process that much quicker and easier :) I would give her 6 stars if I could!
Catherine is wonderful. I came to her before auditioning for the worship team at my church, not having ever sung in front of a large group. I realized that aside from technique, which I definitely needed, she gave me confidence that I desperately needed. I made the worship team and continue to work with Catherine. Lessons are fun and I never feel intimidated. She thinks out of the box when I’m having trouble so that what she’s teaching me finally clicks. Overcoming fear is a beautiful thing and Catherine has been a big supporter of that for me. I highly recommend Lily of the Valley!
Catherine has been a guitar student of mine for over 5 years now. In that time she has not only advanced very well as a guitar player, but she has demonstrated a very high knowledge of music theory and general musicianship that I find excellent! She is a wonderful pianist and vocalist and from my experience working with her over the years I can only imagine she is a fantastic, nurturing, engaging teacher. Additionally, Catherine and I both study from the same Vocal Coach, Dr. Scott Martin, so I know her skills and technique come from the very best! I consider Catherine to be a great colleague and friend. She is my guitar instructor of choice for referrals in the Lakewood area.
As a teacher, I wanted a high quality professional voice teacher for myself. Catherine is a teacher of teachers. She helped me with breathing technique, enunciation, and proper singing posture. I now have more confidence for live performances. She has been trained in voice technique by Dr. Scott Martin (PhD from Juilliard). Her techniques helped my singing within months and were easy to explain to my students!
I am an adult learner and have been taking piano lessons with Catherine for just over two years now, and I my ability has improved dramatically, as well as my general knowledge of music theory. She is also extremely patient, kind, and uplifting. Picking up new skills as an adult can sometimes be daunting, but Catherine has helped me climb that mountain.
Catherine has been a marvelous teacher and has opened my eyes and ears to what I can do with my voice. She helped me realize the range I have and furthermore I feel as though my confidence has been bolstered quite noticeably so to positively affect my every day life. Every session it feels as though I am learning something new and/or reinforcing a previous learning point. She is very patient, is honest and offers a very friendly learning environment.
